Billy Connolly's revealed when it comes to Paul McCartney, a prank's not just for Christmas.

The Big Yin says there's a bit of a competition between himself and the Beatles star over who can send the latest greetings card.

Connolly said the joke started when he asked his daughter to post Paul a Christmas card. She forgot, and it turns out he never received it until MARCH, when wife Pamela Stephenson got around to sending it.

The comedy legend and singer now try to outdo each other by being ridiculously late with their greetings.

In an interview in America he said: "I got a lovely letter from Paul McCartney saying 'Thanks for the Christmas card, it's made March such a nice month'.

"And so I got one from him this year in March. So I sent his three days ago."

The interview then turned to Connolly's battle with Parkinson's disease, which he was diagnosed with in 2012.

He revealed he's considered taking his own life because the pain can be so bad, it stops him getting out of bed.

"But then I try and change my mind and I try and meditate and move away from it.''

Billy's about to play three nights across America. He'll be at the Beacon Theatre in New York tomorrow, followed by Washington DC and Boston.

The Big Yin is determined to keep making other people laugh, even if he doesn't do as much of it himself these days.
