Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious fire in Bathgate which left a house and a vehicle ablaze.

The incident happened around 10pm on Tuesday, May 3 at an address in Castle Road.

A recycling bin was set alight, resulting in a vehicle catching fire before the flames reached a nearby house.

As a result, the property sustained extensive damage and inquiries are continuing to trace those responsible.

Detective Constable Craig Waddell from Livingston CID said: "Fortunately no one was injured during this incident, however, this had the potential to result in more serious consequences.

"Anyone who was in or around Castle Road on Tuesday evening and witnessed anything suspicious, or who has information that can assist with our investigation, should contact police immediately."
