Nine people have been rescued from a life raft after their yacht caught fire off the coast of Shetland.

The coastguard and RNLI were alerted to the incident, which happened about 50 miles west of Shetland, at around 9.20am on Thursday.

The Polish crew of the yacht, which was called The Miracle, were rescued from their life raft by a nearby oil support vessel.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency confirmed that all of the people on board the yacht were 'safely accounted for'.
