Showcasing Scotland’s wonderful larder, this three-day festival has something to whet everyone’s appetite. The event, which is now in its sixth year, boasts a host of street food pop-ups and Ask the Chef tasting sessions as well as a chocolate larder, live music, a children’s tea party, producers market and cookery theatre. There's even the return of old favourites and new exhibitors, including Masterchef: The Professionals winner Jamie Scott.

2 Play Expo

Gamers are in for a treat when Play Expo makes its Scottish debut this weekend. The two-day spectacular gives gamers the chance to try the latest computer and video games. Covering everything from retro arcade machines to next-gen-gaming and board games, the family-friendly event includes an Indie Zone curated by Edinburgh gaming outfit We Throw Switches, a cosplay stage, pinball machines and game tournaments.

3 Ruthven Music Festival
Ruthven Community Hall, Blairgowrie, June 10-12
Promising a weekend of classical music in stunning surroundings, this three-day festival is certain to hit the right note. The orchestral offering, which is in its thirtieth year, features two concerts with performances from the Ruthven Festival Musicians, the Chansons choir and 15-year-old cellist Lorna Doyle, in the acoustically perfect setting of Ruthven’s former church.
Tickets for each concert are £20 and include a wine reception, buffet on Friday and strawberries and cream on Sunday. Under 14s go free.
4 Potfest Scotland
Scone Palace, Scone, Perth, June 10-12
Over 70 exhibitors will be taking part in Potfest, Scotland’s annual international ceramics festival, this weekend. Now in its 20th year, the pottery celebration, organised by the Scottish Potters Association, offers you the chance to meet the makers, watch live demonstrations and get your hands dirty during a series of hands-on ceramic activities.

5 Edinburgh Festival of Cycling

Celebrating one of the nation’s favourite pastimes, the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling is gearing up to be an unmissable event. The ten-day festival features cycling events, family bikes and talks from well-known cyclists, including National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Shannon Galpin, who will discuss her work in Afghanistan using bikes as a vehicle for social justice.
There will also be a Q&A with Juliana Buhring, the fastest woman to cycle around the world, after the premiere of Inspired to Ride, a film about her Trans America ride, and a screening of The White Bike, which was inspired by the death of Eilidh Cairns who was killed as she cycled to work.

6 Edinburgh Juniper Festival
Summerhall, Edinburgh, June 10-12
This three-day festival raises a glass to mark World Gin Day. Returning to its spiritual home of Summerhall, the festival, which is in its third year, will serve up over 30 tasty gin samples, cocktails and street food from some of Scotland’s best producers alongside local handmade fashions and crafts. There will also be a series of talks from gin experts.

7 Pasha Kovalev: It’s All About You

Strictly Come Dancing star Pasha Kovalev will strut his stuff for fans when he waltzes into Scotland with his new tour today. The Latin and ballroom dancer’s new show It’s All About You combines spectacular dancing with live music, stunning costumes and conversation. The shows follow the success of his first UK tour ‘Life Through Dance’.

8 The Golden Age: 90 Years of International Film Posters

Film buffs will be in movie heaven when The Golden Age film poster exhibition opens in Glasgow today. The exhibition features a selection of rare, collectible and international film posters from the 1915 to the present, including Casablanca, King Kong and Bus Stop starring Marilyn Munro. Combining retro designs and old school glamour, the exhibit includes some highly collectable posters by well-known artists.

9 Ichthyosaurs
Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery, Glasgow, various dates in June, July, August and September
Budding palaeontologists will get the chance to meet the first ichthyosaur with a Gaelic name at this new exhibition dedicated to the prehistoric marine reptile. The new exhibit showcases the Hunterian’s collection of ichthyosaurs and examines how the Mesozoic era dinosaur, which became extinct 90 millions years ago, might have looked in real life.

10 Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games

Offering traditional favourites with a modern twist, the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games is packed full of fun for all the family. The popular event, which is celebrating its 42nd year, includes wrestling, pipe bands, arm wrestling, Scottish dancing, fairground rides, food, live music, haggis hurling and a farmers market. This year’s chieftain is Emmerdale favourite Chris Chittell, a.k.a. Eric Pollard.

11 Al Murray: Let’s Go Backwards Together

Al Murray's Pub Landlord will set out his plan to make Britain Great again when he returns to Scotland this weekend. The comic’s new show Let’s Go Backwards Together discusses everything from Europe to the NHS and the Middle East. Not for the easily offended it’s the perfect chance to catch Mr Murray’s new show in an intimate venue.
