THE corridors at BBC Scotland have been echoing to the sound of laughter after the cast of hit comedy show Still Game were reunited to read through the scripts for the first new TV episodes in almost a decade.
Writers Ford Kiernan, Greg Hemphill and the original cast spent four hours laughing around a table as they read through and finessed their comedy timing on scripts for the six-episode series at the Pacific Quay HQ.
Kiernan and Hemphill, who also play pensioners Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade, were joined by Still Game favourites Jane McCarry, as Isa, Sanjeev Kohli, as Navid, Gavin Mitchell, as Bobby, Paul Riley, as Winston, and Mark Cox, as Tam.
Although the read-through was behind closed doors, a draft script revealed episode one is titled “Gadgets”.
Filming is due to get under way on Monday, July 4, at BBC Scotland’s studios in Dumbarton, with filming also due to take place on location soon afterwards.

The first new episodes since 2007 will be broadcast throughout the UK on BBC One later this year.
A BBC Scotland spokesman said: “It’s day one of getting ready for the brand new series of Still Game, and filming starts very soon.
“We’ve been hearing a lot of laughs.”
The Scottish comedy phenomenon about Glasgow pensioners Jack and Victor on the fictional Craiglang estate ran between 2002 and 2007.
