JOEY BARTON has hit back at Old Firm rival Scott Brown after the Hoops skipper claimed the Rangers star was a Celtic supporter.

Brown stated the pair would ‘get on really well, him being a Celtic fan’ after Barton sparked a war of words by insisting his Parkhead counterpart ‘ain’t in my league’ last week.

After posting a picture of Brown in a Rangers shirt on Wednesday evening, Barton returned to Twitter and said: “Where I'm from you support one team. You might look for results of others foreign teams, but you only really support your team.

“If you were a dyed in the wool Everton supporter you don't wear Liverpool kits as a kid. In fact, you'd never be taken seriously if you did.
