SCOTLAND'S Street Soccer team's chances in the upcoming Homeless World Cup have taken wing.

A new video showing players from both the men's and women's teams displaying their skills in Edinburgh Airport has been released by the capital transport hub to show their support.

Former Scotland international goalkeeper Alan Rough, STV News’ chief anchor John MacKay, Scottish Government Sports Minister Aileen Campbell,  long-distance British cyclist Mark Beaumont, Partick Thistle FC’s mascot Kingsley and Scotch Beef’s mascot Hamish the Highland Cow also feature in the film. 

Set to kick off on Sunday, July 10, the Homeless World Cup will be held in Glasgow's George Square. and will see 64 teams representing 52 countries come together to compete and mark the good work undertaken by the Homeless World Cup National Partner network.

The Square will be converted into an outdoor street football venue for the event, with three purpose built pitches with seating. 

Up to 100,000 of spectators are expected to attend the tournament. Entry is free every day, and tickets are not required.

David Duke, the founder and Chief Executive of Street Soccer (Scotland), said: “All the players had a great time making the YouTube promo – and it is a fantastic way of celebrating our partnership with Edinburgh Airport.

 “The players are all now fully focussed on the main event and our opening game against Hong Kong in George Square in Glasgow on Sunday July 10 – we really believe we can do well and make everyone in Scotland proud.”
