AN MP who discovered an abandoned soft toy outside the House of Commons has drafted a parliamentary motion as part of her efforts to find its owner.
Kirsty Blackman, the SNP MP for Aberdeen North, “rescued” the toy bunny a few days ago and has been trying to trace its owner since then.

She has taken to social media to help with the search, posting pictures of her and the Jellycat Bashful Bunny with Big Ben behind them, and also one showing it enjoying a cup of coffee in her office “in between sittings of the Finance Bill Committee”.
She has also drafted an Early Day Motion stating that the House of Commons is “saddened by the discovery of the abandoned bashful bunny by the gates of the Palace of Westminster”. The motion, which has not been submitted to the Parliament, is signed by several of her SNP colleagues at Westminster.

Ms Blackman said: “I have two young children so I know the devastation that can be caused when a toy is lost.”
She discovered the toy at the Carriages Gates entrance, opposite Parliament Square, and added: “When I found the teddy a few days ago near one of the entrances to Parliament, a police officer had put it up on one of the railings but as no-one had come to claim the bunny, it had to spend the night in the police box.

“I went back the next day to check and it was still there so I rescued him. The bunny came with me to PMQs and was in the chamber for the Prime Minister’s statement on the Chilcot Report, so he or she has had quite an adventure. I’ve shared pictures of the bunny on Mumsnet, Facebook and Twitter, so hopefully we can reunite Bunny with his family again soon.”
