WITH Pokemania sweeping the globe thanks to the release of Pokemon Go, wannabe trainers in Scotland have been left on the benches after the UK release was delayed. 

John Hanke, boss of developer Niantic say they are taking a pause on the augmented reality game's rollout as its popularity has caused servers responsible for making the game work to crash.

But Glasgow fans need not fear. Thanks to the efforts of a university society, they don't need to go into the long grass to uncover their favourite Pokemon in real life.

Glasgow University's Pokemon society's Instagram account pika_glasgow_official shows the franchise's iconic mascot in Scotland's biggest city and beyond. 

The society has employed a plush toy of the world's most famous Pokemon to hilarious effect, snapping the lightning rodent in a variety of landmarks both in Glasgow and further afield.

Much like Ash Ketchum's best friend, the society's Pikachu apparently doesn't like staying in his Pokeball, travelling across the land, searching far and wide, each location to understand, the power of each photgraph.
