A family have launched an urgent appeal for missing Glasgow man Gary Boyd after he failed to return home from work on Thursday night. 

Gary Boyd, 31, from Ruchill, was last seen at St George's Cross, in Glasgow city centre,  dressed in his Glasgow City Council uniform at approximately 1am in the early hours of Friday morning.

Relatives have described his disappearance as 'out of character' and have confirmed he has not been in touch with his wife Nadine or his children. 

His step daughter Nadine McQuade launched an emotional online appeal last night.

She wrote: "Post after post prayer after prayer,  Please everyone keep an eye out on my stepdad."

"The support we are getting is amazing thank you to everyone helping. It's very unlike him to disappear please please please if anyone knows anything let me know ASAP it'll mean more than the world to me ! Dad just come home please, I love you xxx Gary Boyd!"

Gary was last seen wearing dark green Glasgow City Council work clothes.

He is described as white, with a shaved head, has tribal tattoos and was last seen wearing silver jewellery. 

Police confirmed his disappearance has been reported by relatives.

A Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing regarding the disappearance of Mr Boyd."

"The last known sighting of Mr Boyd took place in Glasgow city centre at approximately 1am in the early hours of Friday morning."

"If anyone has any information regarding the whereabouts of Mr Boyd they can contact police on 101."
