An eight-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car.

She was struck by a black Ford Ka in St Fillans Road, Dundee, on Saturday night.

The accident happened at around 9pm and emergency services were called to the scene.

The girl was taken to they city's Ninewells Hospital where police said on Sunday she is in "critical condition".

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Officers are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision and who has not spoken to police, or anyone who saw a black Ford Ka in the area at the time to come forward."
