A MAN has shot a doctor dead and then killed himself at a German hospital, according to reports. 

German police have said shots have been fired at the University Clinic in the Steglitz area of Berlin.

The motivation behind the attack is as yet unknown, but it is the latest in a series of deadly incidents in the European nation this month.

A Syrian national whose asylum application had been rejected detonated a bomb on Sunday in Ansbach, killing himself and wounding more than a dozen others.

The same day, another Syrian refugee killed a female colleague with a machete in the city of Reutlingen, near Stuttgart.

Meanwhile an 18-year-old German-Iranian man opened fire in a crowded Olympia shopping mall and a nearby McDonald's restaurant, killing nine people before committing suicide.
