OXFORD United have ended their interest in Motherwell star Marvin Johnson after a third bid was turned down.

An offer of around £300,000 was submitted to the Fir Park club on Friday only for it to be rejected.

Well are holding out for a seven-figure sum for the 25-year-old winger who still has two years left on his contract.

However, after their latest bid was rebuffed, it has now emerged Oxford United have given up the chance on Motherwell’s star player who has scored a goal in each of his last four games.

Head coach Michael Appleton said: "We made what we thought was a very, very good offer.

"They think it’s short of their valuation, so as far as we’re concerned it’s dead."
