NOT sure what Celtic manager Jock Stein is saying to Prime Minister Harold Wilson, but I'd like to think it was: "Hey you, whatever happened to my knighthood?" Celtic fans have long wondered why Jock was never knighted after his Celtic team won the European Cup in 1967. Would have been a different story if it had been an English team, as they say. One suggestion was that it was denied because of the infamous brawl involving Celtic players and Argentinans when they played Racing Club after the European win, but that sounds a bit weak.

This is Big Jock and Rangers player Willie Henderson meeting the Prime Minister days after a General Election had been called in June, 1970. Presumably Wilson thought it would be a good idea to be photographed with both sides of the Old Firm on a campaigning visit to Glasgow. Wilson is also holding his trade-mark pipe, although I once read that he only smoked it to be a man of the people, but in private he preferred cigars.

This picture also shows Willie's much dented nose. He once met Mohammed Ali who looked at Willie's nose and said: "Football? I'm glad I stuck to boxing."

Oh and Harold lost that election. Karma for not giving that knighthood perhaps.
