Scots foodies will be able to sample three Michelin star food for the first time later this year.

Andrew Fairlie, chef-patron of Scotland’s only two-Michelin restaurant, will be joined at his eponymous restaurant at the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire by his friend and mentor Michel Roux OBE and his son Alain, of the triple Michelin starred Waterside Inn in Berkshire, to celebrate Restaurant Andrew Fairlie’s 15th birthday on October 20 and 21. The restaurant will close to the public to mark the occasion.

An exclusive six-course gastronomic menu, created by all three chefs to showcase signature dishes from both restaurants, will feature the Waterside Inn’s classic terrine de foie gras au blanc de volaille, Fairlie’s signature home-smoked Scottish lobster, Highland beef, ravioli of white truffle from Piedmonte, Italy, and a poached pear and blueberry sable. Fresh seasonal produce from Fairlie’s private Victorian walled kitchen garden situated near his restaurant will also take centre stage.

It is the first time Michelin Roux and his son Alain have ever hosted an event together outside their world-famous restaurant.

Fairlie will be cooking alongside Alain Roux, while Michel Roux will greet 104 guests over the two evenings. The price for the one-off experience, with champagne and paired wines, is £375 per person.

Mr Fairlie, who was the first Roux Scholar in 1984, has remained close to the Roux family. He told The Herald: “I am absolutely delighted that Michel and Alain are doing this. Fifteen years is a milestone in the journey for any restaurant, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this at my restaurant.

“My team and I are very excited about cooking alongside Alain, who is undoubtedly one of the finest chefs in the UK, with the rare and special honour of having my mentor and great friend Michelin looking over our shoulders. This unique event is itself another milestone.”

Michel Roux OBE said: “Andrew Fairlie’s restaurant is a temple of gastronomy in Scotland. I am so proud of my first scholar. His achievement is remarkable and I can’t wait to see him again in action at the helm of his enterprise.”
