OH my goodness. Where to start? This is a fine bunch of rascals, sorry I meant sports and television personalities, taking part in a festive version of the STV quiz show Now You See It, in either 1985 or '86. I'm seeing swimmer David Wilkie, footballer John Greig, boxer Jim Watt. There's singer Sydney Devine, comedian Andy Cameron, presenters Paul Coia, Dougie Donnelly, and Jack McLaughlin.

High Road star Gwyneth Guthrie is there, and is that comedian Clem Dane?

The show was an early evening staple in the eighties. Four members of the public would be seated above an electronic board on which there was a word search game.Presenter Johnny Beattie, later Jack McLauglin, would ask a question, the four would scan the jumble of letters, and would then buzz in to say "Line 2, Position 4", much like a game of minesweeper to say where the answer began.

It perhaps lacked pzazz, but if you wanted to nod off on your sofa after a harde day's work, you couldn't beat it.
