Day two of the 2016 William Hill Gold Cup Festival is traditionally known as Ladies Day and female racegoers turned out in their droves wearing their fashionable best at Ayr racecourse on Friday. 

Temperatures topped 16C by noon at the famous west coast venue with racing conditions described as 'soft, good to soft in places'.

Ladies Day is a major fixture of the Ayr Gold Cup and paves the way for the major race on Saturday. 

The winner of the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup will flash across the finish line at around 3.46pm.
