Comic book fans will be able to relive their childhoods when The Broons visits Fife today.
Written by award-winning playwright Rob Drummond, the new show draws inspiration from the classic comic strip, bringing Granpaw, Paw and Maw Broon, Hen and Joe, Daphne, Maggie, Horace, the Twins and the Bairn to life on the Scottish stage for the first time.
The family are making their stage debut to mark the iconic comic strip’s 80th anniversary.

2 Coll & The Cosmos

Astronomers will get the chance to experience the incredible dark skies of Coll during this special stargazing break.
The event, which is a collaboration between Coll Bunkhouse and Cosmos Planetarium, is designed to appeal to all audiences, with no prior knowledge of astronomy needed.

3 Edinburgh Restaurant Festival

4 Scottish Ballet: Autumn Double Bill

Scottish Ballet is kicking off its autumn season in style with a spectacular double bill of Emergence and Sibilo.
The company is the first in the UK to perform Crystal Pite’s innovative Emergence, which combines scurrying insect-like dancers, dark hues and a pounding electronic score.
A performance of Sophie Laplane’s Sibilo, which mixes humour, emotion and everyday situations with an original score from Alex Menzies aka Alex Smoke, completes the autumnal double bill.

5 Ricky Burns v Kiryl Relikh

Ricky Burns will defend his World Super-Lightweight title in front of a home crowd in Glasgow on Friday.
Ricky Hatton’s unbeaten protégé will take on Kiryl Relikh, who has 19 knock outs from 21 fights, to retain his title.

The Coatbridge boxer beat Michele Di Rocco to win the belt and become three-weight World Champion at the Hydro in May.

6 Alfred Dunhill Links Championships

Golf fans are in for a treat this weekend as some of the sport’s biggest stars team up with celebrities for this spectacular event.
Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, Paul Lawrie, Graeme McDowell, Hugh Grant and One Direction’s Niall Horan have all signed up for the historic three-day event.
More than 320 professional and amateur golfers will play the three courses in pairs during the Championships, with the final round taking place on the Old Course at St Andrews on Sunday.

7 Lord of the Lochs Sportive

Cyclists will be gearing up for the challenge of a lifetime when the Lord of the Lochs Sportive returns to Scotland on Saturday.
Riders will cycle through some of Scotland’s most breath-taking landscape during the endurance event, which passes Glenfinnan, Loch Eilt, Loch Ailort, Moidart, Kingairloch and Loch Linnhe.
The event features three races, including a 62 mile Linnhe Tonne and the standard 97 mile Lord of the Lochs ride. There is also a 112 mile elite ride for those looking for a bigger challenge.

Music fans will be in pop heaven later today when Lloyd Cole bring his new tour to Edinburgh.
The Commotions frontman will perform tracks from his new album ‘Standards’ with backing from cult group The Leopards and guitar legend ‘Fast’ Mick Slaven.

9 The Real Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde

There will be some spooky goings-on in Edinburgh this weekend as The Dungeon launches its new Hallowe'en show.
The Real Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde brings guests face-to-face with Deacon Brodie, the Edinburgh businessman who inspired Robert Louis Stevenson's scary tale.
Guests will also meet some of the most depraved characters in Scottish history during the show, which runs until the end of the month.

10 Frankie Boyle and Friends

Comedy lovers are in for a night to remember as Scots shock comic Frankie Boyle brings his new show to Dundee.
The stand-up will take to the stage with Scots comic Fred MacAulay and Scott Gibson for Frankie Boyle and Friends.
The Glaswegian became a household name after appearing on shows, including Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo and Have I Got News for You.

11 Bear Grylls – Endeavour

Adventurer Bear Grylls will make his Scottish stage debut when his first arena show arrives in Glasgow on Tuesday.
The two-hour live action adventure show uses state-of-the-art video mapping and special effects to take the audience on an expedition across the globe.
The show, which has been designed by Bear Grylls and a team of expert aerial artists and stunt crews, also features tales of real life survival from Antarctica, Everest, the jungle and shark-infested waters.
