THE finalists of the 2016 Heraldfashion.co.uk awards have been announced and we can unveil the shortlist for Scotland’s only dedicated online fashion event.

With more than 100 entries received, judges were looking for the top online businesses and entrepreneurs in the world of fashion.

Finalists were selected across 11 categories, focusing on online business models, sustainability, as well as rewarding the bloggers and twitterati of the sector.

The judges commented on the outstanding quality of the entries and they were overwhelmed with the number of entries displaying innovative projects and creative campaigns.

The awards, which are supported by Bridge 2 Business, Markup, Therapie Clinic and s1jobs, are an opportunity to showcase Scottish talent as well as their commercial capabilities.

Brian McEwan, programme manager of Young Enterprise Scotland (YES), part of Bridge 2 Business, said: “The finalists chosen are so impressive. They all show clear and distinct creativity and innovation in their ideas, along with excellent commercial awareness.

“What stood out for the judges most in their applications was how quickly they have taken an initial idea and turned it into a very viable and sustainable business model.

“Being shortlisted for the Online Fashion Graduate of the Year shows early career enthusiasm, determination and the technical abilities of these recent graduates are traits that should be recognised in our fashion industry professionals.”

Barry Gear, director of Markup, said: “The finalists have been chosen and the awards are not far away.

To get to this stage should be considered a great achievement and shows these retailers are making waves in the digital space. I’m sure choosing the winner will be no easy task.”

Phillip McGlade, managing director of Therapie Clinic said: ‘The team at Therapie Clinic would like to congratulate all the finalists on being shortlisted in this tough competition. We are looking forward to meeting them all at the awards next month.’ To vote for any of the people’s choice finalists, contact lyndsay.wilson@heraldandtimes.co.uk, explaining in no more than 50 words why they should win.
