The body of a man missing for more than two weeks has been recovered from a loch.

Sean McKenna, 24, disappeared in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, on October 10.

His body was recovered from Woodend Loch near the town at around 4.30pm yesterday.

His family have been informed.

Police said that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause.

Chief Inspector Gavin Russell, Area Commander for Coatbridge, said today: "I would like to thank the public and the media for all their assistance in sharing our appeals to trace Sean McKenna.

"His disappearance has had a massive impact within the local community, who have really pulled together since he was first reported missing. The news of his death has been felt widely across Coatbridge today.

"My thoughts, the thoughts of the officers who have been dedicated to the inquiry and the thoughts of the community are with his family and friends at this tragic time."

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
