SCOTLAND winger Robert Snodgrass is wanted by Aston Villa - but manager Steve Bruce can't see it happening.

Snodgrass has rejected a new deal at Hull City but the Premier League strugglers are adamant that he will not be sold next month as he is a key player in their battle for survival.

Bruce, who signed Snodgrass for Hull from Norwich City, said: "I cannot see Hull selling Robert Snodgrass to Villa. Why would they at this particular moment?

"I like Robert Snodgrass. I paid £8m for him and if I had the opportunity I would like to have Robert Snodgrass.

"I do not think it is a starter because I know they would not sell him."

Hull have activated the one-year contract option that they hold on Snodgrass to prevent him leaving for nothing at the end of the season.

If he is to leave next summer, Hull want to recoup at least some of the £6m that they paid to sign him from Norwich City in 2014.
