IT could be a view from a hilltop anywhere, with vast wilderness below the clouds. But this remarkable shot was taken from the Campsie Fells above Lennoxtown and below the fog bank is the entire city of Glasgow shrouded in mist and unseen.

Taken on Saturday, the fog obscures the vast sprawl of the city and its hinterlands with even Celtic FC’s training ground, just a few miles away, completely obscured. The only landmark visible is the imposing peak of Tinto Hill, between Lanark and Biggar in the Southern Uplands despite being more than 30 miles away. The shot was captured as temperatures plummeted across much of the country and mixed with wet air formed the perfect fog bank.
