MORE than £46,000 was raised for the charity Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) at its annual “A Question of Burns” supper.

Former Scottish international rugby player and TV sports presenter Andy Nicol hosted the festivities at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel on Thursday night, attended by 400 guests.

TV star Jonathan Watson recited Burns’ poem Tam o’ Shanter, and comedian Eric Davidson presented the Toast to the Lassies while Sheriff Lindsay Wood delivered the Immortal Memory.

Classical singer and SBH Scotland ambassador Nicola Cassells closed the evening with a rousing rendition of Burns’ Auld Lang Syne.

SBH Scotland’s annual evening in honour of the Ayrshire-born poet has raised over £1 million since the event launched in 1990.

Deborah Roe, fundraising director at SBH Scotland, said: “A Question of Burns is always a highlight in our events calendar. We’re thrilled with the success of the evening, and it is fantastic to receive the continued support from all our guests, who truly got into the spirit of things and honoured Robert Burns in style."

“We are very grateful to everyone who generously donated on the evening and also to our sponsors, without whom the evening would not have been possible.

"The money raised has made a huge difference to our annual fundraising targets, allowing us to provide specialist services and projects to the 3,500 children, young people, adults and their families we support every year in Scotland.”
