The SNP has raised more than £100,000 for its next independence referendum campaign - in less than eight hours.

As Nicola Sturgeon announced plans for another vote, the party launched a fundraising drive at www.ref.scot.

The website claims that "Scotland will have a choice - between a Tory-run Brexit Britain, or taking control of our own future, with independence".

It adds that the success of the SNP's campaign "will rely on the hard work and good will of tens of thousands of ordinary people across the country".

It also set a fundraising target of £1million.

Around eight hours after the First Minister began her press conference £102,184 had been raised.
