ONE of the most popular US morning news programmes has been broadcast live from Scotland for the first time.

The NBC Network filmed a segment of its Today Show at the historic Duns Castle in Berwickshire and on the streets of Edinburgh.

More than 50 cast and crew were deployed for the programme, which explored Scottish culture and took in sights from across central Scotland.

Scottish TV personality Phil MacHugh was invited to join the cast and co-hosted coverage along with US presenters Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones.

Phil said,”I had a call from NBC last week to see if I would be available to host Al and Sheinelle during their visit to the Scottish Capital and of course I jumped at the chance.

"We had a brilliant day of filming- eating deep fried mars bar, drinking whisky cocktails and teaching them the highland fling! The Today Show is massive in the US and I still can't believe I had the opportunity to host this segment of the show for the US channel”.

The show, which aired at 9am in the US, also featured 'The Red Hot Chilli Pipers', while the US hosts tried their hand at Falconry to Archery at the 1’200-acre estate.
