The UK premiere of Pixar's Cars 3 is to be shown at Edinburgh's International Film Festival this year.

Disney Pixar’s movie has been confirmed for a showing on Sunday 25 June, 2017 at 2pm at the Festival Theatre.

Tickets will go on sale this Thursday 23 March at 11am through the EIFF website.

The festival has shown several of Pixar's movies over the years, hosting premieres of WALL•E, Toy Story 3, Inside Out and Finding Dory.

Mark Adams, EIFF Artistic Director, said: “Pixar Animation Studios is responsible for some of the greatest animated movies of our time and we’re thrilled to be continuing our relationship with the studio and providing such a treat for our younger audiences and their families in our 70th Anniversary Year with Cars 3.”

Cars 3, which sees Owen Wilson return as the voice of Lightning McQueen and Armie Hammer joins the voice cast as new character Jackson Storm.

It is directed by Brian Fee, who was a storyboard artist on Cars and Cars 2, and produced by Kevin Reher.

It will be released in cinemas on July 14.
