THE record attendance at the home of Hibs came 67 years ago when 65,860 watched an Edinburgh derby.

Last night as Scotland could only draw with Canada 1-1 in a friendly, little more than 14 per cent of that number bothered to show up

While the capacity at Easter Road has been cut over the year, the ground was seen to be around a quarter full - with the official attendance put at 9158.

That makes it one of the worst attendances for a home Scotland game since 5,284 turned up for match with Wales at Cappielow in 1902.

It is by far the lowest turnout for a Scotland match at Easter Road of the seven played there since 1998.

The previous lowest Easter Road attendance was for a 2012 friendly against Australia. Some 11,000 saw the Scots under Craig Levein win 3-1.

The empty terraces has shocked people who took to social media to air their disbelief, while others bemoaned the £22 price tag for tickets for the game.

Hibernian v Dumbarton (Easter Road) attendance: 14,093
Scotland v Canada (Easter Road) attendance: 5000(ish)

Scotland were being held by Canada 1-1 after 68 minutes.

In July 1983, with attendances on the wane and with Easter Road ground deteriorating, then chairman Kenny Waugh took the decision to effectively cut the terracing in half, removing the top tier at a cost of 120,000.

It currently has an all-seated capacity of 20,421 which makes it the fifth-largest football stadium in Scotland.
