WOOD Group has won an $8 million (£6.4m) contract to provide automation services on petrochemicals production facilities in the US. The Aberdeen-based oil services giant has been appointed to be the TPC Group’s main automation contractor on manufacturing facilities in Texas and a terminal in Louisiana for three years. Wood Group has been expanding in markets such as automation to help reduce its reliance on work in the oil and gas exploration and production business in response to the fall in crude prices since 2014. It bought the Bedfordshire-based Automated Technology Group in 2015. Work on the TPC contract will be completed by Wood’s Specialist Technical Solutions division, which is led by Bob MacDonald. TPC’s products are used in the manufacture of goods ranging from tyres to lubricants.
