APPLE is reported to be mulling over a move for Toshiba’s semiconductor business.

The technology giant is said to be considering a joint bid with the Taiwanese iPhone manufacturer Foxconn to bid for the business. The move would require an investment of several billion dollars for a 20 per cent stake in the business, reported Reuters, and would involve Toshiba retaining a partial holding.

Foxconn participated in the first round of an auction to acquire the business, which Toshiba is selling to raise funds to cover the multi-billion write-downs on its US nuclear division, which has put the company at risk.
