One of the most famous musicians to come out of Paisley has been honoured with a mass rendition of a piece of his work.

Massive crowds gathered in Paisley town centre to remember Gerry Rafferty with a saxophone solo of his 1978 smash-hit 'Baker Street' this afternoon.

Local promoter Tommy McGrory of Loud ‘n’ Proud organised the performance to celebrate what would have been the week of the musician’s 70th birthday.

It also marked the send-off of Paisley’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2021 which is due to be lodged with the UK Government next week.

The solo took place at Paisley Cross and saw professional musicians joined by local talent.
