Josh Glanc's Manfül is on at the Gilded Balloon Teviot Wee Room during August.

1 Tell us about your Fringe show

A dance-music fuelled product launch that descends into a strange and surreal gender quest as the once dweeby, but now hyper-masculine American beefcake, Dicky Rosenthal, tries to keep it all together.

2 How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?

Bloody exciting (and nerve racking) but ultimately exciting.

3 Best live act you’ve seen at the Fringe?

Otto & Astrid.

4 Best thing about the Fringe?

Having access to an incredible variety of shows. Like at any time. On your doorstep. A show here. A show there. You want a show, here’s 10 to choose from, on right now right here. And with that there is the chance to discover a performer that you’ve never heard of before but absolutely love.

5 Worst thing about the Fringe?

Other artists talk about it being a slog. Melbourne Comedy Festival is 22 shows in a row, so I’m looking forward to the extra week!

6 If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

I’d be working as a lawyer, which is what I was doing before taking comedy more seriously. I liked it, but I think I was a little too weird for most of my colleagues.

7 How do you combat pre-gig nerves?

Pre-gig nerves are good. I don’t want to combat them. I want to feel them. If I’m too relaxed before a show I start to get worried that I’m relaxed,  which helps to het me more nervous. I also like a routine before a show during a festival. Eat, warm up, poo, then get my props ready, then poo again, costume. Routine is good for me.

8 Worst on stage experience?

There is audience interaction in my show and in Adelaide a guy was meant to slap me, but because he was an absolute idiot, he kind of punched me and I felt my jaw crack.

9 What do you love about Scotland?

I don’t know much about Scotland but I really like black pudding, and I’m pretty sure that comes from Scotland.

10 What do you like about Edinburgh?

I’ve only been once, and it was two years ago for about 10 days during Fringe. It was beautiful and old. Australia is so young in comparison.

11 What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve ever done?

I wore a kilt in Australia once. I didn’t wear undies – I’m not sure whether you are meant to or not, but it just really tickled me not to wear them underneath.

12 Favourite Scottish food/drink?

Black pudding.

13 Sum up your show in three words

Fun. Surprising. Surreal.
