Buckfast sales highest in Glasgow as company profits reach record high
BUCKFAST sales have reached a record high - and it's people in Glasgow that have been buying the tonic wine most often.
The controversial drink has seen sales reach £26.9m across the UK over the last year.
And new figures have revealed that those who stay in Glasgow are the most likely to buy the controversial tonic wine.
However, the fortified wine's popularity is now spreading to the south of England - with sales increasing by £2m and 7.9 per cent over the past year.
Bucky has been made by Benedictine monks at Buckfast Abbey, Devon since the 1920s.
Violent crime and antisocial behaviour is often associated with the drink.
