CELTIC and Linfield have been charged by UEFA following the Hoops' Champions League qualifying win in Belfast last Friday.

Brendan Rodgers' side recorded a 2-0 victory in the second qualifying round first leg, thanks to goals from Scott Sinclair and Tom Rogic.

However, missiles including a glass bottle were thrown at Bhoys striker Leigh Griffiths during the second half.

The Scotland internationalist was bizarrely booked for showing one of the bottles to the referee and he now faces further disciplinary action after being charged with provoking supporters.

European football's governing body announced on Monday that the forward has been charged with 'provoking spectators (after the end of the match)', in addition to the club being hit with a charge of 'improper conduct of the team (5 cards or more).'

Linfield, meanwhile, face charges of 'field invasion by supporters' and 'throwing of objects.'

The case will be dealt with by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on July 20.

Linfield travel to Glasgow for the second leg this Wednesday, with the winner set to face either Dundalk or Rosenborg in the next round.
