WHEN a self-appointed zoologist such as David Stubley (Letters, July 18) informs us that a shy nocturnal woodland feline, like lynx, will obviously resort to killing sheep, I have to ask – where is his evidence?

Lynx diet is 75 per cent composed of small creatures such as mice, hares, voles, squirrels and so on, and occasionally they eat carrion such as dead deer.

In parts of Europe where lynx have not been exterminated they live in some areas where sheep, goats and other non-native species have been introduced by man. But mostly they avoid the excesses of humanity.

As many will agree, living in a "theme park" is an excellent notion. Bring it on. And perhaps some could read up on the difference between fossils and living creatures.
