The son of late Celtic legend Tommy Burns has also hit out at Twitter trolls who mocked the death of his father.

Jonathan Burns has taken to his Twitter account to share Scott Brown’s earlier post which made light of the fact both his father and Brown’s sister, Fiona, died from skin cancer.

Mr Burns, a football coach, said: “Its a pity people have to sink to this level but without the proper upbringing and basic human qualities this is what you get, pray for them.”

The Herald:

Hundreds of loyal followers rushed to support Mr Burns in the wake of the post.

“You were evidently raised by the best,” said one, as another, Willie, added, “It’s abhorrent mate. I despair. I really do.”

Mr Burns’ reaction came after the it was reported how Hoops midfielder Brown was first sent the image via Twitter.

Bringing the post to light, Brown said: “Just been sent this from my twitter account. Now football banter is all good between fans but when it gets personal and bringing family members and friends into it who u love and miss everyday is disgusting.”

The Herald:

Fiona Brown passed away aged just 21 following a battle with the cancer in May 2008.

Just two weeks later, Celtic legend Burns also succumbed to the disease at the age of 51.

The Twitter account from which the post originally came from, @Mcgringolad, has since been deleted.

The image was posted hours after Brown helped his side to a dramatic 1-0 win over Rosenborg in Norway.
