AN offshore windfarm capable of powering up to one million homes will be built in East Anglia after planning consent was given to ScottishPower Renewables.

To be constructed off the Norfolk coast, the next-generation turbines at the company’s East Anglia Three project will be 247 meters tall. The windfarm will have a capacity of 1,200 megawatts.

Keith Anderson, chief executive, said: “Offshore wind has delivered on its promises from the outset. Our sector has met every technical and political challenge, grown the UK’s supply chain, and improved technology at a rapid pace.”
