THE Barra teenager who was injured in the Manchester Arena attack met with the man who tended to her in the aftermath of the bombing, it has emerged.

Laura MacIntyre was rescued by a security guard after she was seriously injured in the terror attack which claimed the lives of 22 people, including her friend, Eilidh MacLeod, 14.

Speaking in a documentary for STV, Niall Pentony said he had helped the 15-year-old, as a picture of him visiting her in hospital appeared on screen.

He said: "I was walking by when this girl grabbed hold of my leg. I instantly dropped on to the floor, onto my knees, and rolled her onto her side and started talking to her and keeping her going."

Earlier this week, Michael and Nan MacIntyre said they had taken their daughter home to Barra, in the Outer Hebrides, .

The teenager had been treated at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital before being moved to Glasgow for treatment.

Her parents said in a statement: "We are delighted that Laura has been able to return home to Barra.

"She continues to amaze us every day with her strength and bravery and we've looked forward to this day for a long time.

"We'd like to thank everyone who has helped Laura and our family get here."

Previously, her parents had thanked Mr Pentony, though he was not named, saying in a statement: "The kindness and care started from the first moments after the bombing when a young travel safe officer held Laura's hand and comforted her for an hour while she waited for treatment.

"We believe he helped save Laura's life that night and he will always be a hero to our family."

Laura was at the Ariana Grande concert with friend Eilidh when the Castlebay Community School pupils were reported missing after they failed to get in touch with family following the explosion.

It was later confirmed Eilidh was among the dead while Laura was found in hospital.
