A DANCER has become the first person to win all three top prizes at an international ballet competition.

Harris Beattie picked up the Gold Medal, the Margot Fonteyn Audience Choice Award and the Choreographic Award at the Genee International Ballet Competition 2017.

Beattie, 18, from Aberdeen is the only one in the 86-year-old event, run by the Royal Academy of Dance, to achieve the honour.

Harris’ early talent potential was spotted by Karen Berry, founder of Danscentre in Aberdeen, who is still supportive and involved in his achievements.

The competition took place over 10 days in Lisbon, finishing on Saturday at the city’s Teatro Camoes.

It attracted 52 of the world’s finest young dancers from 14 countries, aged between 15 to 19 years old, with six boys and 46 girls taking part.
