SCOTT Sinclair feels that the memory of the record 5-1 Old Firm win at Ibrox in April will allow Celtic’s players to relax when they return there on Saturday. With the gap between the two teams appeared a chasm every bit as wide as the 39 points which separated them at the end of the 2016-17 table that day, some of the Parkhead side’s fans will be expecting a repeat of the giant margin of victory tomorrow lunchtime. Instead, the Englishman merely feels a Celtic side will turn up in Govan this Saturday capable of playing their own game with a degree of comfort.

“There is always expectation, that is our fans, they expect us to win every game,” said Sinclair. “But for me the result we had last year just gives us confidence to go out there, relax and play our game. We have all got our confidence high going into the Saturday game so we just have to go out there and do it again. It doesn’t matter how much we win by, it is about getting the three points.”

No man is more totemic than these occasions than Scott Brown, and judging by an inspired 90 minutes in the BetFred Cup against Dundee at Dens Park, the Celtic and Scotland captain is in excellent form.

“Browny is very underrated, he goes under the radar - I said that even last year,” said Sinclair. “He is our captain and our leader. Not only does he make strong challenges, he gets the ball down and passes it. He ticks the play over and controls the midfield.”

This Rangers team is markedly different now but you pretty much know what you get from Celtic. “They have made changes but the hing for us is to concentrate on our game,” said Sinclair. “If we play the way we can, we will be hard to beat.”
