Scottish Golf, the amateur governing body, is seeking a third chief executive in 18 months after Blane Dodds resigned from his post today.

The shock announcement comes barely six weeks before member clubs were set to vote on a new strategy aiming to generate more income following a reduction in government funding.

Contentious plans to more than double the annual subscription members pay from £11.25 to £24 to help fund Scottish Golf’s plans has been greeted with hostility in many quarters.

Dodds took over the reins of the amalgamated body from Hamish Grey in March 2016. Eleanor Cannon, the chairperson of Scottish Golf, is set to take over on a temporary basis.
