SCREENMEDIA was last night named the top digital agency in the country, at the 2017 Scottish Digital Business Awards in association with DigitalBoost.

The event, organised by The Herald and supported by Business Gateway, Enigma People Solutions, SQA, Prudential, RMD Limited and s1Jobs, was hosted by David Farrell at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.

In attendance were more than 250 of Scotland’s finest digital agencies and business leaders.

Now in their ninth year, the awards received an astonishing number of entries with judges reserving special praise for the impact Scottish agencies are making in new international markets.

Screenmedia, the Glasgow-based multi-platform designer and developer, won the Digital Agency Award sponsored by Enigma People Solutions in recognition of its international reach, client wins and attention to investing in staff and young entrepreneurs.

David Mains, director, Enigma People Solutions said: “After another excellent event, we would like to say thank you to all finalists and winners who took part and showcased their achievements over this year. We continue to support these awards precisely because we understand the importance of recognising and rewarding the businesses which give so much to our industry.”

The Education &Training Award, sponsored by SQA, was awarded to Front Page for its Disney Stars project.

Martyn Ware, head of assessment futures at SQA said: “Tonight has been truly inspirational, hearing about the creative and inventive ways in which businesses in Scotland are using digital technologies to help meet and shape customer needs.”

The E-commerce Award, sponsored by DigitalBoost, went to Wholesale Domestic for its impressive revenue growth.

Hugh Lightbody, chief officer at the Business Gateway National Unit, said: “Our involvement in the DigitalBoost programme has shown how businesses across Scotland are embracing digital skills and technology, and it was extremely encouraging to see this high level of innovation reflected in those taking part in the awards programme. The finalists were of the highest calibre and our congratulations go to all those who took part, and of course our award winners, who underlined just how important digital technology is to the growth of Scotland’s economy.”

The awards also paid tribute to the public sector with an award going to Ayrshire College for its solutions to help organisations use digital technologies effectively to support business needs.

David Purvis, operations director, RMD Limited said: “We were thrilled to see the shortlist of the Public Sector Award and think that Ayrshire College, Business Gateway – Digital Boost, NHS Health Scotland and Strathclyde Partnership for Transport are more than commendable finalists.

“We felt privileged to be part of this event, toasting to all this year’s finalists and winners and celebrating the digital achievements of all the businesses and organisations involved.”

This year the Digital Professional of the Year, sponsored by Prudential, was awarded to John McLeish, managing director at Equator.

Daniel Sedgwick, head of digital proposition development, Prudential said: “A huge congratulations to the deserving finalists and winners at this year’s Herald Digital Awards. We are delighted to have sponsored the Digital Professional of the Year award this year and look forward to seeing how the great Digital talent in Scotland continues to develop in the future.”
