AFTER victory against Partick Thistle at Firhill and a point against Rangers at Ibrox, Kilmarnock winger Chris Burke is hoping to complete a memorable Glasgow hat-trick against Celtic at Parkhead on Saturday. The Premiership champions stand just one match away from matching their own all time British record for consecutive matches without defeat, a 62 game run set at the height of World War I between November 1915 and April 1917, but Steve Clarke’s arrival at Rugby Park has reaped immediate dividends and – bottom of the table or not - Burke for one is determined that it should continue.

“It would be nice, wouldn’t it?” said the former Rangers winger. “Again we’ll have belief in our game, we’ll have a plan and hopefully we can take something from the game on Saturday.

“Obviously we got a get result against Partick Thistle away and we got a great point here against Rangers. Don’t get me wrong we’re still at the bottom so we have to make sure we keep climbing and keep taking points. We will have a tough task again at Parkhead but a lot of teams around about us will not be happy with seeing this result against Rangers.”

As imperious as Celtic have been, Burke’s experience tells him chances will come on Saturday – the Ayrshire side just need to make sure that they take them. “I’ve noticed since I’ve come back that you do get your chances against the top teams,” he said. ‘I feel as if the other teams around about the bottom six, they just think it’s okay to play well. They think, ‘We’ve done alright today but we got beat 2-0’.Y But you have to take your chances in the games. That’s what makes it count, that’s what makes you not get relegated, that’s what makes you in the top six. You just don’t think you did alright, you have to make sure. It’s all about end product.”
