DOWNING Street officials have been accused of subjecting a photographer to a “disgraceful” and “degrading” full-body search before a photoshoot in Theresa May’s office.

The accredited journalist was asked to strip for the search on Monday at No 10.

Michelle Stanistreet, general secretary of the National Union of Journalists, said: “A press photographer’s workplace is wherever they are sent to report the news and this would be disgraceful behaviour in any workplace, let alone the home of the Prime Minister.

“This is an accredited and experienced journalist and this degrading search was entirely unnecessary, as Downing Street later admitted.”
