GORDON: Recovered his composure in the first-half when a bobbling Blair Alston free-kick almost squirmed past him. Little of note to deal with against a toothless Saints team. (6)

LUSTIG: Took a hefty knock to the back of his head deep in the second period but showed little ill-effects in its aftermath. Got up and down the flank throughout the afternoon and linked up well with James Forrest. (7)

BITTON: One loose ball back to Gordon that put the Celtic keeper under pressure and sloppy midway in the opening half when he gifted possession on the edge of his own box. Other than that was under very little pressure. (6)

BOYATA: Shot off bar and then cleared off the line by Aaron Comrie as he looked to get in among the goals. Was not overloaded defensively. (7)

TIERNEY: Playing in wing-back role and didn’t stop as he patrolled up and down the flanks. Scored the first goal during the 7-0 win against Motherwell back in May 2016 that started the 63-game run going. Has been instrumental throughout it. (7)

FORREST: Lively and full of running. Did not manage to get his name on the scoresheet but involved in much of Celtic’s offensive play. Replaced by Jonny Hayes in the second period as he started to tire. (7)

McGREGOR: Usual energetic shift in the middle of the park although tired as the game went on. Had a couple of efforts from distance and was replaced by Tom Rogic on the hour mark. (7)

BROWN: In a running battel with Paul Patton throughout the game. The St Johnstone midfielder went into the book as he used an elbow for leverage as he challenged Brown for an aerial ball at one point. Rarely wasted a pass. (8)

ARMSTRONG: Supplied the corner that led to the opening goal and then set up the second of the afternoon for Moussa Dembele. Strong all-round display and at the heart of much of Celtic’s forward movements. (8)

SINCLAIR: Best performance from a while from last term’s Player of the Year. one shot from edge of box and then fluffed his lines when he was teed up by Dembele, but enjoyed the opening goal when he thumped the ball high into the net. First goal since September but his 11th of the season so far. (8)

DEMBELE: Scorned chance to double Celtic’s lead in the opening period when he screwed a header well wide of the post after James Forrest had teed him up but redeemed himself in the second period. Started and finished the move that led to Celtic’s second goal and was the architect of the move that saw Steven Anderson turn the ball into his own net. (8)

ROGIC: Usual quick feet and fine movement as he came into the game in the second period. (6)

NTCHAM: Took over from Stuart Armstrong and made his mark on an historic afternoon by claiming the fourth and final goal of the afternoon with a low sweeping drive from the edge of the box. (6)

Hayes: Took over from the tiring Forest with 13 minutes to go and looked keen to make an impression. (5)
