Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 72 store heifers in Newton Stewart on Friday to a top of £985 per head and 242.4p per kg to average £741.11 and 200.7p, while 88 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1160 and 261.1p to level at £788.41 and 203.2p. Twelve store, dairy-bred bullocks sold to £700 and 168.6p to average £595 and 151.7p.

Wallets Marts sold 33 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £940 and 224p to average £679 and 187.1p, while 26 store bullocks peaked at £1205 and 233.6p to level at £920 and 195p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1569 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £94 per head and 195.7p per kg to average 171.6p (+5.4p on the week).

There were also 609 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes averaged £72.71 and light/export-type ewes levelled at £36.67.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 41 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 259p and an average of 225p (-14p), while 30 prime bullocks peaked at 252p and levelled at 217p (-2p). Four prime bulls sold to 209p and averaged 175p.

In the rough ring 62 beef cows averaged 130p (-1.6p).

There were also 1601 prime lambs that sold to £99 and 230p to average 166.4p (-4p).

The 639 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes average £72 and light ewes level at £38.

The firm also sold 9 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 208.5p and an average of 196.8p (-4.2p), while 11 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 235.5p and levelled at 205.8p (-6.5p). A couple of prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 151.5p and averaged 151p. Thirty-nine prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 235.5p and averaged 195.8p (+9.6p), while 33 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 185.5p and levelled at 152.2p (+7.8p).

In the rough ring 114 beef cows averaged 127.5p (+7.1p) and 229 dairy cows levelled at 101.8p (+4.3p).

There were also 1758 prime lambs that sold to £108.80 and 263.6p to average 183.9p (+10.3p).

A small show of 58 heavy cast ewes averaged £58.63, while 37 light ewes levelled at £26.14.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 23 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 249p and an average of 233.6p (-12.3p), while 11 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 235p and levelled at 216.6p (no comparison). Four prime, B&W bullocks sold to 154p and averaged 144.2p (+13.5p).

In the rough ring 70 beef cows averaged 128p (+8p) and 38 dairy cows levelled at 89p (no change).

The firm also sold 1968 prime lambs to a top of £99.50 and 244.4p to average 172.4p (+6.2p).

A nice show of 284 heavy cast ewes averaged £71.57, while 519 light ewes levelled at £44.48.
