Former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale is set to take part in her first bushtucker trial in tonight’s episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

ITV has issued a preview clip showing Dugdale rummaging on hands and knees through a tank of fish guts labelled ‘Sickola Sturgeon’.

‘Margaret Scratcher’ and ‘Theresa Dismay’ also make an appearance.

Dugdale will take part in the politically-themed task - called ‘Downing Creek’ - with fellow contestant, radio star Iain Lee, which sees the pair make their way through gruesome liquids while trying to find the all-important stars which determine how much food campmates are entitled to.

On Wednesday night, fans of the show hit out at the decision to cast the MSP, arguing that politicians do not count as celebrities.

Dugdale’s later arrival to the TV jungle was announced at the end of Wednesday night’s episode - along with Lee - to the dismay of some viewers.

While she hinted that her experience with “snakes” in the political world would prepare her for the show, others were not so sure it was the right choice.

Dugdale said: “I’ve never had to deal with creepy crawlies before. I ran upstairs when I saw a spider the other day and I’ve got a big fear of birds that stems from when I saw a scary picture of a pigeon as a toddler.”

It was then that she went on to add that she was “well practised in dealing with rats and snakes.”

In a video posted on Twitter earlier in the day, Dugdale said she wanted to use her appearance on the programme to reach out to young people about political values.

Leaving their plush pads and luxuries far behind, the reality show sees celebrity campers spend up to three weeks taking on the harsh surroundings of the Australian Jungle, with a host of new nasty surprises created just for them.
