POLICE divers have been searching a North Glasgow canal as they continue their hunt for a 21-year-old man who vanished three weeks ago.
Thomas Keenan disappeared in a distressed state at the Esso Service Station at 900 Maryhill Road at around 5.55am on Tuesday, November 21.
On Monday, Police Scotland's specialist dive and marine team was seen scouring Maryhill Locks.
As previously reported, CCTV images captured the young man, who is said to be suffering from personal issues and is likely to be in a very anxious state, wandering around the service station before running off.
Concern for Mr Keenan's welfare has continued to grow as icy temperatures grip the country.
Mr Keenan's, who lives in Maryhill's Kelvinside Avenue, is described as white, around 5ft 11 inches in height and of slim build with brown wavy hair. When he was last seen, he was wearing a pair of dark shorts with the Nike logo on the left leg, a red t-shirt with a black motif on the front, and white and black trainers.
Chief Inspector Vicky Little, of Maryhill Police Office, said: “Extensive searches and enquiries are continuing to trace Thomas. Officers have been assisted by a number of specialist resources including the police helicopter, dog unit and specialist search advisors. Posters and leaflets have also been distributed in the local area.
“Unfortunately despite this, and a number of appeals for information, there have been no further sightings of Thomas.
“We understand that Thomas is suffering from some personal issues and when he was last seen he appeared to be in a very confused state. His family are absolutely devastated by his disappearance and are extremely concerned for his safety and wellbeing. The family have also been sharing photographs and posters asking for people with any information to get in touch, they just want to know he is safe.”
Chief Inspector Little added: “We are also continuing to try and identify a woman who found a wallet and mobile phone near to the forecourt of the Esso Service Station at 900 Maryhill Road, Glasgow on Tuesday, November 21. A further appeal was also issued to anyone with a dash cam in their vehicle who would have been driving in the area of Queen Margaret Drive and Bilsland Drive, Glasgow between 4am and 7am on the same date.
“If anyone has information that will help us find Thomas, please get in touch. Any detail, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, could prove useful in our ongoing efforts to trace Thomas.”
