Scottish Labour’s former deputy leader Alex Rowley has pledged to concentrate on serving his constituents after quitting the post.

Mr Rowley, who had a stint as interim leader following Kezia Dugdale’s resignation, said he was stepping down on Saturday. It followed the outcome of a party investigation into claims of harassment against him.

Mr Rowley, the MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, said he was disappointed the panel was unable to fully investigate the claims and that he did not have the chance to answer them.

He added: “I am in politics to fight for social, political and economic change to improve the lives of working people. I will continue that work.”
