Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a five-star hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond.

Crews were called to Cameron House at around 6.40am on Monday.

Pictures on social media showed guests and staff standing outside the hotel while emergency services took control of the area.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 6.41am on Monday December 18 to reports of a fire that had taken hold within Cameron House Hotel, Balloch.

"Operations Control immediately mobilised four appliances and an aerial appliance to the scene.

"Firefighters are currently in the process of searching the building while fighting the fire using powerful water jets.

"The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service remains at the scene."
