Strong winds disrupted road and rail journeys to and from Helensburgh on Sunday.

At the height of the bad weather during the late morning, no Helensburgh-Edinburgh trains were running west of Hyndland.

ScotRail organised a replacement bus service between Helensburgh Central and Dumbarton Central to connect with trains to and from Balloch, with the first shuttle buses running at 10am.

Later services on the Helensburgh line were revised to run as far as Dalmuir or Dumbarton Central.

ScotRail said the disruption, caused by the effects of Storm Dylan, was expected to last until 3pm.

People with valid travel tickets were also able to use bus services on First's Helensburgh-Glasgow route.

In addition, the Erskine Bridge was closed to high-sided vehicles on Sunday morning because of the wind speeds.

A Met Office yellow 'be aware' weather warning is in place throughout central Scotland until 3pm on Sunday.

* Train passengers should also note that services to and from Helensburgh, and on ScotRail routes across the country, will finish early on Hogmanay.

The last trains on Sunday night are as follows:

1940 Edinburgh to Helensburgh

2040 Edinburgh to Bathgate

2057 Airdrie to Helensburgh

1955 Helensburgh to Edinburgh

2055 Helensburgh to Bathgate

There are no public transport services anywhere in Helensburgh and Lomond on New Year's Day.
